Why "Diok Gagah"

Every brand has a story.

This one begins with my father.

Pronounced "Dee-ock Gaa-gah"

Diok Gagah Yoga is more than a yoga studio - it's a movement method built on purpose, progress, and the belief that strength doesn't have to come from doing more.

Inspired by my roots, shaped by my teaching, and designed for real life, every class helps you build a stronger, more capable body through thoughtful, efficient movement.

The name itself carries a story that's deeply personal to me.

My Story

Growing up, my late father was affectionately known by his Bisaya nickname, "Anak Diok," which means "small child." He earned the nickname because of his small stature as a boy, and over the years it became a name that his family knew him by.

When it came time to name my yoga studio, I wanted something that reflected not only my heritage and my petite stature, but also someone who shaped my life.

So Diok became the heart of the name.

I paired it with Gagah, a word that means strong, sturdy, and resilient.

Together, Diok Gagah represents a simple idea:

Small doesn't mean weak.

That idea runs through everything I teach.

My studio is intentionally small. My classes are just 30 minutes long. The movements we practise are carefully selected instead of endless. We don't chase more time, more poses, or more exhaustion.

Instead, we focus on purposeful movement that delivers the greatest return - building strength, mobility, balance, and confidence through quality rather than quantity.

Inspired by the Day1Yoga Method, every class is designed to strengthen the foundations that matter: stable shoulders, mobile hips, a resilient core, and body awareness that carries into everyday life. These same foundations naturally progress towards arm balances and handstands - not as the goal for everyone, but as evidence of a body that is becoming stronger, more capable, and more confident. It's merely proof that the method works.

Diok Gagah is more than a name.

It's a reminder that strength isn't measured by size, time, or complexity.

It's measured by intention.

Welcome to Diok Gagah Yoga.

Less but more.
